Antique Spectacles Eyeglasses Open Half Frames B&L 1/10 12K Gold Fill No Lens
NOTE: Original glass bifocal lens were broken when these glasses were dropped preparing for shipment on a previous sale. Original lens description here and last picture shows what they looked like: octagonal shaped lens with straight edge bottoms and sides, and curved tops

Bakelite nose pads slightly discolored
Black embossed leather-wrapped metal case with velveteen lining in poor condition with cracks, rust and losses, as shown in pics, but stills snaps closed tight
Case gold-stamped: Foland Optical Company, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan
Circa 1910s-1920s
Eyeglasses measures 4.5" wide tip to tip x 4.25" long temples (at curves)
Nose bridge opening measures .75"
(Additional measurements per shopper inquiry: Width of frame: hinge to hinge, is 4.75 inches long.
Nosepiece separation: Between pads is .5 inch; between lens frames is .75 inch
Length of ear side to ear parts (?): Temple length (side of glasses) from lens frame to back of ear wire "curl" is 4-3/8 inches long; ear wire "curl" is 1.75 inches high. )
Original glass bifocal lens (broken pieces included) measured 1.75" wide x 1.5" high each, and were octagonal-shaped; broken lens remnants included for retrofitting a new set of lens.

Condition:
Antique 12k gold filled wire spectacle eyeglass frames in good condition with normal wear for age and use; glass bifocal lens are broken or missing--remnants are included to show the original shape, size, and design--octagonal bifocals; bakelite nose pads are slightly discolored; gold-filled open frames are in good condition with normal wear, temples are floppy, splayed, and somewhat out of shape from age, use, and storage. Leather-wrapped metal case has cracks and tears, wear, heavy interior rust and velveteen losses, but still snaps closed tight. SELLING EYEGLASS FRAMES ONLY--NEED NEW LENS.
