These beautiful fine art prints of Piranesi’s 18th Century “Views Of Rome” are just 6 of his original 220 engravings that he created to serve as a record of these ancient ruins for scholars to study, and as inspiration for his contemporaries to emulate the achievements of ancient Rome; this selection of six prints were published by Penn Prints, New York, in 1957.

These beautiful fine art prints of Piranesi’s 18th Century “Views Of Rome” are just 6 of his original 220 engravings that he created to serve as a record of these ancient ruins for scholars to study, and as inspiration for his contemporaries to emulate the achievements of ancient Rome; this selection of six prints were published by Penn Prints, New York, in 1957.

  • This print is in landscape orientation and measures 19” wide x 14” high, including borders
  • This particular portfolio envelope contains 6 fine art prints ready for framing; this listing is for ONE print
  • Original architectural print engravings were done by Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778); Piranesi was an Italian Classical archaeologist, architect, and artist, famous for his etchings of Rome
  • Four of these prints are in landscape orientation, two are in portrait orientation
  • Published in 1957 by Penn Prints, New York
  • These vintage fine art prints of Piranesi’s Views Of Rome are all in very good condition with signs of age discoloration, handling, and many decades of storage.  Prints show varying degrees of age-yellowing, with the first few more discolored than the last few.  There are varying degrees of edge wear, corner bends, and signs of handling, which can be seen in the pictures of each.  Only one has a small hole at the bottom right, print No. 5 of 6, Imperial Mausoleum; all others are fully intact.  None of these prints have ever been framed.  These beautiful fine art prints of Piranesi’s 18th Century Views Of Rome are just 6 of his original 220 engravings that he created to serve as a record of these ancient ruins for scholars to study, and as inspiration for his contemporaries to emulate the achievements of ancient Rome; this selection of six prints were published by Penn Prints, New York, in 1957.
