Condition:
Vintage Japanese black lacquer musical jewelry box in good condition with wear and losses from age, use, and storage. Medium heavy loss of black lacquer finish on many edges; corners show lacquer wear and cracking. Missing spinning girl figurine on music box post. Some light fading on interior red lining. Stress crack at top hinge pin on left door. Brass door plate crumpled on edges of both doors (does not hamper opening and closing). No key available. Music box is in very good playing condition, plays when wound up and the top is lifted, turns off when lid is closed; unable to identify song--sounds sort of Irish (?). Hand-painted scenery is in good condition with very little wear. Overall, box is in good condition, intact, but lacquered edges seem to be susceptible to loss; priced accordingly.
